New Zealand based Wash Rite is set to enter the Australian & Canadian exterior cleaning market by June this year.
Established in August 2015, Wash Rite services both the residential and commercial markets, providing building washing services, including window cleaning, roof washing, deck and fence cleaning, pest and insect control, driveway and concrete path cleaning.
Wash Rite currently has 29 franchises in operation 69 custom built cleaning trucks in 26 cities in New Zealand, from Whangarei in the north island all the way down to Invercargill at the bottom of the south island.
Founder Troy Hillard said the business will establish its first master licence in Australia & Canada in June this year, ahead of its ambitious expansion strategy of as many as 150 franchisees across Australia and Canada by the end of 2021.
“We’re not shy about our expansion plans,” Troy Hillard said.
“We plan to enter the Australian market and provide a level of service that no other company can match at a fair and reasonable price.” Wash Rite sees the Australian and Canadian markets open for a new and professional competitor to come into the market and quickly expand. These two markets are currently filled with small sole traders who have limited resources.
“We have been gearing up for the expansion for some time now, We have gathered resources and hired the right people to help facilitate our expansion plans”.
Wash Rite’s parent company is in the process of setting up a national head office and training facility in Newcastle NSW where we will undertake new franchise inductions and training as well as our national franchise support and sales functions. Wash Rite’s Canadian facility will be based in the city of Toronto in the province of Ontario.
Wash Rite has seen rapid growth in the New Zealand market since entering the market in 2015 and quickly become the largest exterior cleaning service provider with NZ. Wash Rite has become the provider of choice for government departments as well as large scale accommodation providers like retirement villages and social housing providers.
Through its rapid growth Wash Rite has always had the mantra of giving back to our communities, This attitude has become a key aspect of the Wash Rite culture, Wash Rite’s franchises demonstrates this by offering free services to ex-serviceman every April to remember their sacrifice around ANZAC day, As well providing free disinfecting and sanitisation services to any daycare, school, retirement village to help fight the COVID-19 virus. Wash Rite is adamant that this culture of giving back and supporting our community will be carried over to Australia and Canada with our expansion.
The exterior cleaning service provider also plans to grow its footprint in its home market. Troy Hillard expects the company to reach its franchise capacity, between 41 and 43 franchises, almost double its existing network, by the end of 2020.
Once established in the Australia Wash Rite’s parent company The Rite Group plans to introduce other services including its commercial carpeting cleaning and office cleaning service division Clean Rite, and professional lawn and garden maintenance business, Lawn Rite.
Bio Troy Hillard

I was born and raised in Lake Macquarie just outside Newcastle NSW where my family still resides today, After completing school in 2000 I joined the Australia Army and was posted to Lavarack Barracks Townsville to the 2nd Royal Australia Regiment where I served for 6 years.
Upon leaving the Army I moved back to Sydney to work in road transport management, Before I moved to Hamilton New Zealand in February 2011, owning a couple of businesses in New Zealand I cam across the business model of franchising which grabbed my interest greatly. I started a process of searching for an industry that was ripe for a franchise model that had great growth potential. This is when I came across the house washing and exterior cleaning industry and on August 25th 2015 Wash Rite was formed. Throughout the following 5 years, I have been able to grow Wash Rite as well as starting two other franchise brands Clean Rite & Lawn Rite which have both seen the same rapid growth that Wash Rite has.
I have also expanded my business holding and started a chain of high-end hair salons with my wife who has been in the hair industry for over 20 years.
