Big Frog opens in Canada

Local business owners Shannon and Brian Marowitch to participate in “Shop Local All the Way” campaign and provide other community support including to Stollery Children’s Hospital

Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More has opened its first store in Canada in South Edmonton, Alberta at 1311 Windermere Way to offer a wide variety of “un-frog-ettable” custom apparel. The shop, which specializes in Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing, is owned by long-time South Edmonton residents Shannon and Brian Marowitch and opened for business just a short time ago. The new location will participate in the brand’s just launched “Shop Local All the Way” campaign, a grassroots marketing movement to amplify how small businesses help rebuild local economies, and support the community with other give-back initiatives.

“We are excited to be the very first location in Canada,” said Shannon Marowitch. “We’ve built a really strong team which includes our designers Ayden and Albert, who have helped foster our amazing culture while creating an environment our customers and our staff love to be in. I mean, who doesn’t love a custom designed and personalized t-shirt that is made in minutes and you’re able to walk out with right away?”

At Big Frog, there are no minimums or set up fees on orders. They also offer fast 24-hour turnaround, hassle-free customization, and free 15-minute, in-person design help.

The Marowitch’s are no strangers to small businesses, having been long-time partners in five local Edmonton-area Boston Pizza locations. Big Frog appealed to them because of the fun, creative, casual, and collaborative atmosphere each store generates as well as the ability to give back to the community in which they operate.

Later this month, Big Frog South Edmonton will provide in-kind t-shirts, hats, and hoodies to volunteers at a Stollery Children’s Hospital fundraiser and the shop is planning a spring sponsorship with the local Humane Society.

“Not only are we contributing to the community, but we are also hiring young people and learning new things every day with them, thus fostering the growth of young business entrepreneurs,” Brian Marowitch said.

Big Frog South Edmonton had a stellar, record-breaking first month by securing a contract to produce 1,400 t-shirts for Amazon in just 10 days. With that project behind them, Shannon, Brian, Ayden and Albert are looking forward to other rewarding jobs both large and small.

“New owners like Shannon and Brian are pretty much a dream come true for our established Big Frog franchise brand,” said Tina Bacon-DeFrece, Big Frog Franchise Group President and CEO. “With their deep business franchise system background, their community commitment and their professional passion, we know they will inspire success in their own shop and in the larger Edmonton economy.”

Big Frog South Edmonton is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find the shop at 1311 Windermere Way, Edmonton, AB T6W 2P3. Contact by email at [email protected] or by phone at 780-409-9565. For more information, visit bigfrog.com/south-edmonton.
