Raises more than $3,000 in support of neonatal intensive care unit.
Freshii celebrates the opening of a new location in the food court at Barrie’s Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, the brand’s second in Barrie. Owned and operated by Salim Bardai, who opened the city’s first Freshii in 2018, this newest location offers the complete Freshii menu, including a variety of bowls, salads, wraps, burritos, soups and other equally nutritious, energizing meals on the go.
The opening is especially meaningful for Salim and his wife Sheena. Less than four years ago, their son Jordan received critical care at the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Inspired by their personal story, the new location held a fundraiser, DATE to April 2, to raise money for the NICU. The campaign raised $3,000 in support of a refresh for the NICU ward.
“It’s an emotional connection for us,” said Salim Bardai. “We feel we’re bringing our son back home where he first started.”
A grand opening celebration took place on March 26 with representatives from the City of Barrie, the office of John Brassard, Member of Parliament for Barrie-Innisfil, and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce.
“We are delighted to see Salim expand his business in such a special and meaningful way,” said Chris Cann, Brand Leader at Freshii. “We are committed to helping our customers to live happier & healthier lives, and with Salim and his team, we have an opportunity to offer visitors to the hospital a fresh and healthy meal option that tastes great – and raise some money along the way.”
